We finally picked out our daughter's bedding! I hope she likes it as much as we do! 18 1/2 weeks before she can see it, though ; )

Gender Revealing Party!!!

Saturday, June 19th we revealed to all our friends and family the gender of the baby! We had about a ton of people in our living room and kitchen nibbling on hamburgers and hotdogs, fruit, chips and salsa, soda, and veggies while waiting on the CUPCAKES!

Except for Will's sister-in-law, who actually had the cupcake...so we made her tear it apart, and this is what she found!

We also received 723 diapers and 752 wipes!!! (Including a box of the blue jean diapers I blogged about earlier!) We are very excited!

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)

He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper. (Momma Jones, this one's all yours!)

19 weeks 5 days. 142 days to go!

We are 3 days away from finding out if it's a boy or girl and I am going absolutely crazy! I have been having weird dreams for almost a week now about it! I just know i'm going to go nuts at shops and boutiques! I cannot stand the wait. And I have no clue how i'm going to keep my lips sealed for two whole days until the reveal party?!? I'm going to start making the all-knowing, all-telling, super-secret cupcakes on Thursday or Friday. (Sorry, I get really cheesy when I'm excited!)

I'll move on, now.

I have been feeling the baby move for about a week, now! I think it was last Wednesday that I first recognized it. Sweet Pea's on my left side, still down below my belly button. He/She really enjoys sugar! I just ate a pop-tart and am having fun feeling the party going on inside! I do have to watch how much of that goes on. Sugar is one of my cravings. It's not as common as these cravings though...





French fries with ketchup? OH YEAH. I will make myself sick on V-8 juice. And when we go out to Mexican, forget the meal...just give me the chips and salsa, and nobody gets hurt! As far as food aversions: I'm glad to be eating chicken again. It sure does make life easier!

19 week update!!!

Oh sweet pea...

My mom temporarily named the baby sweet pea, just until we find out what we plan to call this kid! "Baby" and "it" just weren't working for her...I agree. I went for a regular check-up today...and got to HEAR the baby's heartbeat via doppler! She didn't think we'd get to hear it, but she tried anyway. There it was! Strong and steady! Will was sad he had to miss it...I was told I was just filling out a ton of paperwork, and he had to work. He's been working so hard to make up for all of my lost hours at the dentist's office. In upwards of 65+ hours a week! We're 9 weeks and 2 days along...approximately 215 days to go!

8-Week Update

We went for an ultrasound this morning, due to some unfamiliar cramps I had been having. Great news! Everything is going perfectly! We got to see the baby wiggling it's little arms and legs...and moving side to side, like a dance! I couldn't believe it! We also could see it's heart chambers beating. The heartbeat was 164. She said anything from 110 to 180 was normal. Will started crying, he was so happy! (I don't know if I was supposed to tell you that...) We still have 10 weeks until we can tell the baby's gender, but we seem to think it's a girl. The ring test says girl, and the chinese birth chart says girl. I know those things can be wrong, but for the most part i've heard they're right.

I'm craving mostly carbs, and anything else pretty much grosses me out. Which is not good, because I lost all my weight eating low-carb...and it's already returning at an astonishingly fast rate. I'm hoping my food aversions will diminish in the second trimester, so that I can eat healthier. And i'll be good to work out again once I feel better! I have to keep my heart rate below 140, which will be tough because I am used to pushing myself really hard when I work out...so i'm not sure I remember what "moderate" feels like.

I think the timing of this pregnancy is great, because I will get to wear plenty of fall clothes when I'm huge, and after the baby's born I can wear winter clothes until I get my shape back in the spring. We're already planning a copy of P90X. No bikinis or little tank tops until well after the baby's born!

How We Found Out

I hadn't been feeling well. Exhaustion, queasiness, tenderness...but I thought it was from working two jobs, a stomach bug that had been going around, and maybe a period on it's way. I had jokingly told Will that I wanted to take a pregnancy test, because if I felt this way for no reason, I was going to be upset! I really didn't think I could really be pregnant though.

We had invited our friends Jordan and Erica over for dinner on Thursday, March 4. Erica was with us, but Jordan was still on his way home from work. She and I were talking in the car in the parking lot at Publix...I told her I had these weird symptoms, but after 2 years of trying, I had been dismissing them. I really thought we weren't ever going to become pregnant. I mentioned that I might take my last pregancy test, just to get the thought out of the back of my mind. She agreed that it was a good idea.

So after we made it home, and i'm waiting on the test to process, i'm reading the back of the box, just passing the time. I look down, and it had already processed. But it looked...weird. I had never seen two pinks lines before. I looked at the box, looked at the test, looked at the box, looked at the test. Looked at the box. I screamed for Will. (I later found out that Erica told him "she's yelling for you", but since he was cooking dinner for us, he ignored me.) I then ran into the living room, shaking, saying "what does this mean? what does this mean?"

His jaw dropped. Erica squealed "it means PREGNANT!" She started jumping up and down, while Will and I just stared at each other. "I'm gonna go into labor!", she said, from the jumping. "Don't do that!" Will said. "Well, hug each other or something!!!" So we did = )

I still wasn't sure if I should believe it or not, I mean, two years after seeing negatives...was this really a positive? "You have to get the one that says the word!" Erica beamed. So she and I rushed down to Walgreens, and bought a two-pack. I couldn't pee when I got back home, so I chugged water and continued to shake. They were talking, but I couldn't concentrate. I tried atleast twice before I could pee enough for the second test. To my suprise...it said "Pregnant"! I thought for sure it had been a fluke, but it wasn't!

We tried to wait to tell our parents in a super-creative way, but that lasted maybe 20 seconds. We decided to take a picture of the two positive tests and text it to all our family members at the same time. Ten seconds later, our phones were ringing off the hook! My family cried, his family laughed, both were excited. We confirmed it at the doctor's office the next day!

It took us forever to grasp that we're pregnant...it just didn't seem real! We kept telling each other, "Hey, guess what? We're pregnant!"
